Clifford’s Tower
The large stone tower, which we now know as Clifford's Tower, was built in the 1250s during the reign of King Henry III. As the only surviving remnant of York Castle, today, Clifford’s Tower is one of York’s most iconic landmarks and holds years of history.
Step inside for stunning views of the city as you become immersed in centuries of history. New walkways and staircases have opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for years, and immersive soundscapes and stories bring the tower’s turbulent history to life.
